Mock evacuation exercise at BijuPatnaik airport


Bhubaneswar: There was a sudden buzz at the standby operational area of BijuPatnaik airport around 3.30 pm on Friday. Men and machines were put on alert to ensure a full scale mock evacuation exercise.
As the airport officials coordinating the exercise were taking note of the minutest details to conduct the mock drill, other agencies were making last-minute preparations.
The airport conducted the mock evacuation drill as per director-general of civil aviation (DGCA) guidelines after two years. The drill had the all the components of a real-time situation. A bus was kept in place of an aircraft. Besides, two vans of airport fire and emergency services, one van of state government fire services, ambulances were present. CISF ) personnel, employees of Airports Authority of India and Orissa State Disaster Management Authority and state police personnel were also ready.
